I’ve been playing Tetris for 10+ years

Background:
In 1985 a russian guy named, Alexey Pajitnov, developed the game while working for the Academy of Sciences in Moscow.
The game was quickly circulated around Moscow & then traveled to Budapest. Eventually, in 1986 IBM introduced a PC version in the US and the game’s popularity spread like a virus.
Versions on the Game Boy and Nintendo system solidified Tetris into American Pop Culture and later made it into my home on the Super Nintendo as Tetris & Dr Mario

Like I said earlier I’ve been playing for about 10 years and I’m not sure why I like the game so much. I mean it’s genius is so simple. In today’s day of games that are 3d and can seem like you are talking to living breathing people…..I can’t help but plug in my old Super Nintendo and play some Tetris.
Fun Facts:
~The game is based on an ancient Roman game called Pentamino
~As of 2004, it is estimated of selling more than 80 million copies
~The game was originally called Genetic Engineering and instead of falling down the pieces could be moved anywhere on the screen.
~The pieces are called tetromino
~In some eastern countries tetris can be played on ATMs

I’ve been playing since I got my gameboy…. I dont remember how long ago that was… But my dad was still around, I remember taking it with me when I went to Korea with him… and you know my dad hasn’t been around for a while. Hah.
It was the only game I ever owned on gameboy.

Man, tetris is my all time favorite game. Used to stay up ’til the wee-hours in the morning during high school playing Tetrinet.

i hate the gamecube’s tetris worlds or whatever it’s called. the pieces are so tiny it’s no wonder so many people wear glasses x_x
i don’t really like tetrinet cause well the users seem like they’re on an all sugar diet. i couldn’t beat them if i tried! no fun there! plus i use a laptop now, the keypad’s not really tetris friendly
i’m very old school. i still love tetris and if i get started, i can’t stop myself. :blink:
Tetris is classic! I love that game! I bought a gameboy for my bf & Tetris for xmas! We fight over it constantly!
i remember playing tetris on my old school gameboy..it wasn’t even in color! oh the memories…this is well over 10 years too..so don’t you feel bad!

that game came with the original gameboy back in 1989 I believe. Many bedtime hours were skewed. But well worth it.

Oh boy, I’m not much of a Tetris person… the class Mario games were more of my style! I was an avid Nintendo gamer back in the day (not to mention SNES and N64). Hah, I even own an Atari.
I also was caught up in the N64 Zelda games for a while.
Don’t have time for that anymore. Oh well.

Nintendoooo ^_^ I still have mine. Their selling for a couple hundred on ebay now.. I have the orange gun and that shooting duck game.. hahaha.. it was great back in the kindergarden days playing those games =o).

haha Yeh like many people, I first started to play Tetris when I got my original gameboy. I still have it now. I would play it from time to time if I can find some batteries! hehe I liked how you attached the game onto your xanga, I wasn’t going to comment because I was busy playing hehe It’s on pause now.. so I’m going to go back to the game now! hehe

As much as I love Tetris, it ruined my life. Junior year, I discovered the joys of Tetris as I installed it onto my calculator. However, to put it into some fancy math terms, my tetris skills were inversely related to my math grade. Bad news. But Tetris rules. Rock on brotha.

oh i see, well you def did a good job here. ^_^ As for me, ever since I started college xanga has been my hobby lol. I’ve replaced it with aim. How sad! But yeah, I don’t “party” alot or w/e have you.. so my options are limited =o). And that’s my excuse for being a ‘xangaholic’!.

The only video game I’ve ever gotten into was Sims, though I guess that is technically a computer game . . . at least the one I was playing. My husband LOVES that stuff though. Happy playing.
