  • Learn Something New:

    Inspired by TenThousandPoetWarriors

I browse 100's of xangas a day always searching for those true gems.  A majority of the xangas out there are just [blah blah blah, this is what I did today...blah blah blah.....life sucks].  Don't get me wrong though, I enjoy reading & seeing people's daily lives....especially my good friends.

From time to time though, you find someone who takes that extra step.  Someone who provides a glimpse of their talent, their thought process, their creativity.  Yestereday, I found myself going through a xangans older entries because I wanted to see what I missed.

TenThousandPoetWarriors also goes by 10PKW or Lix.  If you go to his site you'll see magnificent samples of his artwork & writing.  Also, he's done one of the most creative things I've seen on xanga involving the Alphabet.

My favorite is K for Keepsake.

While I was looking at his site there was one drawing that just hit me though.  It was under the title "Art Unfinished."  The drawing was so simple in it's beauty and the fact it was unfinished reached out to me.  It was a symbol of me never truly nurturing my own drawing.

    Art Unfinished....

Which Xangans make you laugh, draw, write, photograph?

    Comment I left him:

    Visit Sup007's Xanga Site!

God, I've been meaning to come to your site because of the sincere comments I've seen you leave on my site and several others and after seeing your site I'm sad I didn't subscribe earlier....

P.S. Your "art unifinished" picture has I think finally given me the inspiration to start drawing again....thank you....

    Get off your ass:

When I left that comment for Lix yesterday I meant it.  Sometimes when I'm inspired I think the best thing is to just go out and do it.  So last night after work I headed over to Michaels, the arts and crafts store, to get some supplies.

I ended up getting a sketch book, pencils, eraser, & sharpner.

My mind is very structured and I love geometric shapes so I decided I would concentrate first on learning how to do Graffitti Art & Robots and then move on to other subjects.

This is the first of hopefully many sketches.

Hopefully my drawing will catch up to my photography & photoshop skills.  Time will tell and I'm willing to put the time & effort in to get better.  I'll let you guys know how it works out.

  • dude, here i am wasting time on xanga, when i should be doing WORK! and i see your post about my site. yikes! i'm humbled. thanks.

i'm really looking forward to seeing more of your work.

yeah, art can be really inspiring. it inspires me to do up stuff when i see others do it. not in the sense of competition but in the sense of learning new ways of expression.

  • very inspirational lan. i wish i had artistic skills. good luck man. i wanna see those sketches! jon jon (www.xanga.com/jx2_66) is a good friend of mine, and his artwork is awesome! =D

  • i go at my own pace. I try to trendset and trailblaze, maybe pioneer a few things.

    video blogs.
    phone blogs.
    Camwhore contests.

    they've originated from somewhere

  • i'm utterly jealous of you and my sistar... i live an hour away from this mudhole that these texans call a beach. (galveston)

  • i admire your courage. i'm still fighting my fears so i can post my drawings! petrified of people's jugdements. good for you lan!!!! loving the robot. heheh he's adorable. does he have a girlfriend robot?

  • excellent post, my friend ;)   I'm inspired to go out and buy some huge canvases and practice my oil painting.....but too bad my bank account is a little less inspired than I am...

  • Finding a good xanga with good content is like looking for a needle in a haystack.  It's even more difficult to find geuine people behind the xanga.  When you do find one, it's like a lost treasure uncovered.

I just visited 10PKW's xanga and it is as you described - a great xanga.  He just got himself a new subscriber.

I can't wait to see what inspiration brings out of you!  Keep it up!

  • always great to try new things... and nice to find a few people that inspire you... as for drawing... man just too damn difficult... i think it really requires lots of natural talent... but I say that with everything I can't do.

  • dont ever let that sketchbook leave your side... in the oddest moments you'll feel inspired to draw something profound. you'll be glad you had that sketchbook with you. good luck, bro.

and to answer your question... you're one of a few xangans who inspire me. and i mean that, too.

  •  :boxing: thanks =) one more week of crap and i can go on vacation! wee!!

  • Happy New Year to you too.....

  • I can see you are turly inspired by this guy.  Keep on drawing and post some of your work here.  I would love to see them.

  • uh oh. you've got cometition.  :boxing:
heh. but you draw better than me.

  • keep drawing and doing those photoshop works wtih your pictures.. your site is awesome..

  • Hiiii Lan!! For the past month or so I've been trying to get back to doing more drawings and crafty things. I haven't actually tried to do some graffiti but I did save a site in my favourites to help me when I do attempt that. I find the patterns in graffiti artworks to be so amazing! I look forward to seeing more of your drawings sweetie!!

  • thanks that means alot

  • This post is inspiring me to work on my project. Thanks  :showoff:

  • My xanga is meaningless..sometimes just a place for me to curse at something or someone..like a punching bag if you know what I meant ^^

  • Drawing and writing are two talents I've always wanted to possess. I can do neither so I have to 'take' pictures and steal other's words. Your very fortunate you have both talents! :worthy:

  • I can only draw stick figure.

  • Hey, you sure do have a lot of time on your hand to be browsing hundreds of xangas =P. Are you getting paid for it?

But anyways, thanks for sharing. I'll check out his page =)

  • im taking a drawing class right now and i love it...i never thought i was much of a drawer..but i really enjoy it and i aint that bad at it..ahahaha..we should draw & paint together with liss someday

  • you are a TRUE artist ;D ahaha robots beat the mona lisa anyday

awww lol does that mean im a GEM? =O

lol uh oh.. maybe not as much anymore.. im going to blog more on my life recently.. but ..maybe that could work,,

  • thats one of my fav quotes. nice xanga, although it seems like you spend a lot of time on it

  • thanx... and i need ot start being more creative again. After time with school, work, bf comsumes you, your life revolves around repition of blah blah blahness. gota start getting inspired again. good luck on ur creativiness.

  • kudos, to persuing the art skills again, funny how something so small can motivate you to do someting..

  • I dabbled in drawing as well when I was younger. But what I would really like to continue pursuing is playing the guitar. However, I didn't bring it with me when I moved to SF, which I regret in hindsight.

  • oo can you say 'trial subscription?'

  • Lolz yup I bet you celebrate V-day with different girl different day. Now that's how you make up the 365 days.

  • Heyy ahah okiez i guess ur rite tat valentines is only for one person tat i rly like  :throb:

    -aLiCe <3

  • i took my first photo class 2 years ago.
now that you ask, i can't beleive it's been so long.

i <3 your robot. he looks like he's a superhero.
you should write a story to go along with him.
    the adventures of super robot.

    =]

  • woohoo Skteches! that's not a self-portrait, is it?

  •   hehe i refuse to watch any of those reality shows either.  Well..besides the Apprentice. =p

  • hey it looks better than my sketches!!!!

  • oh it is indeed the saddest...

by the way. i don't particularly agree with picasso's quote. i feel that everyone is an artist, and will always be an artist. whether or not their artistic ability shows, depends on how true they are to themselves and if they can portray who they are through methods other than common human communications.

  • haha   your first sketch looks so familiar   !!!  hahah  looks like one of my  own =]  im enjoyin  :wub:your blogs--very  :dribble:interesting; no  :smile:wonder you have so many commenters

  • There are some xangas that are worth reading, you just have to sift through all the  :pooh:.

Best of luck w/ your sketch book.

RYC:  Mao was so bad?  B/c he kicked out the Japanese Imperial Army and the backstabber Chang Kai-Shek and drove out his hoards of corrupted gangstars and hooligans?  Or for introducing politices that reduced inflation left by the KMT and increasing literacy?  Or for redistbuting land from the leecherous landlords to the peasant classes?  Or for beginning to build a modern infrastructure?  Or promoting womens/minorities right's and the sciences?

Okay, so the Great Leap Forward was timed badly (before a severe drought).
The Cultural Revolution of 1966 was against the state-capitalists members of the CCP attempts to maintain the status quo and marginalise Mao.
So many have died during Mao's struggle for power, but the numbers are small compared to the number of Chinese killed by chaos, war, destitution, and foreign invasion before the Communists took power.
Even women gained when Mao made prostitiution illegal...
Even his most vehement right-wing opponents acknowledge that militarily and politically, Mao was a genius.

  • graffiti ; that will be very hard to draw and develop your own style. i'm still trying  :pooh: haha well i like your robot. lol

  • i like projectblogsphere's page.  it's like a one-stop informational depot!

  • great post!  i am going to take a look at 10TPW's page as well.

  • oops, my bad, 10PKW

  • thank u :)

also..i lik the little artwork of the lil boy ..looks lik precious moments..

  • I like xangas that give me tips on how to have sex with my cousins.

Do you know where I could find some more of those??

  • aww... i'm so happy that you picked up a sketchbook and did your first sketch! and it's so cute! LOVE the robot   if you keep drawing these robots, you can have a whole collection of them and then you can show them in a gallery! Yah!! i have high hopes for you, lan! we should really have that gallery showing of friends' work one day. it'd be fun  :dribble:

  • Hard to find...absolutely.  Great, random xangas are practically nonexistant.

I think mine is pretty random, and, why, yes, this IS propaganda!

  • Great xanga you've got here! :) I started off reading the entry about how to kick someone in the balls and I kept on going from there. It's refreshing to see something good on featured content. :)  Oh, and http://www.xanga.com/cowboybone is another gem. I read through his entire story about Jaye (labeled as "Dear Jaye" in his sidebar) over the summer...good stuff. :)
