  • About Me:

    San Diego, CA [12.12.04]

I live in Southern California and like most of the people living out here we love our beaches and the ocean.

    Hhahha....don't ask

After a trip last December with my good friend Kim, I got to thinking about what kind of job I could find that would let me enjoy the sea.

It all came to me in a dream when I was sleep in a polar bear den at Seaworld.

    ZZzzZzzZZzzzZZzz

After I was rudely awoken by the owner of the den I figured out that there could be two jobs I could excel at and enjoy.

    I swear she was 18.

    Option #1 - Whale Rider

For those of you who haven't known me very long.  My dad taught me how to ride whales at a very young age in the oceans of Vietnam.  I was actually a stunt man in the movie Free Willy and getting to ride whales again would be a big dream of mine.

    Spread em'

    Option #2 - Aquabat

I just recently learned how to do hand stands courtesy of Darrell & Joon so I thought it'd be great to be one of those performers in a water show at Seaworld.  Also, something about me being a natural attention whore (as evident by my xanga) has me lean towards this job a little bit more.

Hahahh yes my dream job does require there to be 6 of me.

So what do you think I should be...
    a Whale Rider or Aquabat?

[Special Note]  My friend Hoang started his very first xanga 10 days ago on January 28th.  Please encourage him to write more and welcome him to xanga by commenting

  • Event Recap:

My parents came to visit me this past weekend and it's always amazing to see them.  (I'll talk about them & the weekend at another date)

Well, while they were here they got me thinking about their last visit......

    November 18th, 2004
    Anthony's House, Westminster CA

While they were visiting, I acted the gracious host and chauffered my parents all around Orange County.  Going from house to house was exhausting, but on our last stop of the night we got to visit this house where a young boy named Anthony lived.

Things started looking up for me after meeting Anthony.  His family's two dogs just recently had two puppies and Anthony was more than happy to show them to me.

    So innocent.......

Well, while I'm playing with my dogs out of the corner of my eye I see my mom whispering something to the mother of the two puppies.

    Something looks fishy here.....

Well after we are there for about 15 minutes my mom turns to Anthony and says....
"Do you want me to take the fat one or small one?"  I was shocked, it took me a second to realize what my mom was asking & doing.

    So sad....

Before Anthony & I realize what's going on my mom grabs one of the dogs.

I love you mom....but I couldn't help photoshop this picture just a little.

In all seriousness though, Anthony seemed to take it pretty well about us taking his puppy and we promised to bring him back to visit.  I remember when I was a kid my mom giving our puppies away and it sucked ass.  But I also remember eventually getting over it.....Anthony will also.

    December 24thth, 2004
    Parent's House, Phoenix, AZ

Last Christmas I went to visit my parents and the dog was a bit bigger and a lot hairer.  But the thing is for some reason my parents hadn't given him a name yet.  At the time I thought Buckwheat would be a good name for the dog...

    Slicka Slim Shady.....

Well it's been almost 3 months since my parents have had the dog now and still no name.

Can you come up with a good name for the dog?

  • About Me:

I recently had a friend tell me he was trying to cuss words.  So it got me thinking about my earliest memory of cussing.  I mean I'm pretty sure I cussed a good deal before this memory but this one stands out for the pure stupidity of it.

Let me break it down for you:

    Scene 1:

I'm at home flipping through channels when all of a sudden I find a movie about pirates and the seven seas.  So I sat down to enjoy the show.

    I look so happy.

    Scene 2:

After watching the show for several minutes one of the most hilarious things I've ever seen at the time (I was probably around 8 or 9) occured on the screen.

Haha, one of the pirates gets hit in the balls with a sandbag!!!

    Scene 3:

Well you have to realize your parents never really teach you the meanings behind cuss words.  All you realize is that when one is uttered it's a big no no.  Well after seeing the pirate get hit in the balls I yell out unconciously.

Yea, I didn't know what I was thinking either

    Scene 4:

Well either my dad or mom heard me from the other room and comes in the room to talk to me about what I just said.

An asian parents best teaching tool.

Moral of the story:  If you are going to cuss then realize
    1) An ass is not in your crotch.....
    2) Don't let your parents catch you

So do you remember what your first cuss word was?

  • Picture of the Day:

Life was so much easier back then......?
Where a kid can be a kid!

Over the years I've heard people say things like "I wish I were a kid again" or "Damn, it sucks getting older" because of the weight of reponsibility put on them.  Things were in a sense "easier" when you were a little kid with your parents sheltering you from the world and taking care of you.

The thing is....was my lack of responsibility and knowledge of the world what made me happy?  "Is ignorance really bliss?"

Don't get me wrong, if I could go back to playing with marbles in the sand, afternoon naps, play time, recess, & summer's devoted to playing at the park.....I probably would go back.......But for how long?

Knowing what I know today would make it difficult to go back to those simpler days.  I've gained to much to just throw it all away.

For instance take The Simpsons.  I've been a regular viewer of The Simpsons ever since it started off on the Tracy Ulman Show but I've found over the years that the show has a deeper levels than people realize.

As a kid I was able to appreciate the shows far-fetched storylines & silly antics but as I got older and more knowledgeable I realized the show has so much more to offer.  It was filled with allusions to Pop Culture & Literature and complex storylines regarding the family dynamic & religion.

The show developed into a great show not because the show changed but because I did.

When I think about it now, I wouldn't trade all the marbles in the world for what I've gained up to this point.

Are you happier now than when you were as a kid?

  • About Me:

[Disclaimer:]  This entry was written in response to a conversation I recently had with a "friend" who said my xanga portrayed me as a 10 year old fool and someone who just drinks, smokes, & parties.

This is the "real" me, unedited for MY viewing pleasure:

    Taken early this morning.

    Epiphany:

When I first signed up for my xanga account I used the name "Sup007" not "LanNguyen". ....Why?.... because xanga is just ONE mask of who I am.  Out of the many online journals I read, very few are a true reflection of the person typing away at the keyboard.

Are you really who you portray yourself to be on xanga?

You can be anything you want to be on xanga........a poet, a drunk, an artisit, a partyer, a saint, a photographer, a bitch, a teacher, an asshole, a lover, a fucker, a comedian, a whiner.  That's the beauty of xanga, you can be whoever you want to be.

    My Typical Day:

    7:00am - Alarm goes off
    7:30am - I wake up finally
    7:35am - Toothbrush & Shower
    8:00am - Sometimes I eat breakfast
    8:30am - I drive to work
9:00am-1:00pm - I work and check out xanga
    1:00pm - I eat lunch
    2:00pm-6:00pm - I work
    6:05pm - I drive home
    6:30pm - I get home & shower
7:00pm - Cook dinner or go out and buy dinner
    7:30pm - Free time:
Watch TV, play video games, go online, or go out with friends
    ~2:00am - Sleep

    Reflection:

Boring huh? Well it's my life and that's how I choose to live it.  On xanga however I portray myself as a fun, party going, happy go lucky guy because I feel people find it more interesting than the man above.

I am Sup007.....Sup007 is apart of me.......I'm happy right now and I'm living in my own little happy bubble but there is so much more to me than people realize.  Maybe when I feel more comfortable with myself I'll begin to reveal other aspects of my personality & life.

I for instance have many faults.  I don't have time to list them here and I'm not ready to share them with you all.....yet.

    Fuck Off:

This is my xanga and this is how I choose to use it.

  • Event Recap:

    Alfredo's Birthday Party 2004

[Note:]Sorry for posting these pictures really late.  These pictures were taken before I got xanga premium so I'm doing an extremely late posting of these pictures.  Enjoy!

    Birthday Boy:

I didn't like the way I looked in this pic so...paper bag here I come.

    THE party:

Alfredo's Birthday Party has become an annual event around Irvine.  People come from all around southern california to go to these parties including everyone from his home town of Corona out in Riverside County.

The first year I went to his party I got there at 11pm and he was already passed out drunk.   This year was no different with a counter full of alcohol, music playing, & cute girls,  I wasn't dissappointed.

I came to the party w/ my two friends Catherine & Virginie.  I can always coun't on a good time with Vi because she is extremely fun when she's buzzed and an amazing dancer

A party is always better with more girls than guys I think.

You know a party isn't good unless you have some drunk girls

    These girls are great.

Here is the rest of the UCI crew

    Trust me i'm a Doctor

Question:  Are parties better when there are more girls than guys?

    After party:

When the cops finally came to break up the party we headed back to Stanford Court for an "after party" with drinks and lots of laughs

Rashmi's wasted in this picture & don't ask what Jon & Ferdi are doing.

This girl can chow down like no other.

    Superstars:

While I was up on a trip to San Francisco I got my hands on these really funky looking glasses.  Well people were drinking and I figured I'd bring them out.

Damn Courtney & I both look wasted.

Ok the highlight of my night and a lot of guys that night was meeting this cute girl from UCLA named Audrey.

    *swooooooooon*

    Reflection:

This day really was amazing for numerous reasons.  The least of which was re-lighting a huge friendship with the UCI crew.  [My friends: Larry, Eric, Jon, Ferdinand, Megan, Courtney, Eileen, & Rashmi...etc...etc...]

It was a great night and one I'll always remember.....

[Edit:] I completely forgot.....this is also the night I first met one of the most amazing girls ever.....Laura!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Picture of the Day:

My three addictions of choice were the inspiration for this picture.  The original picture of the little guy w/ the syringes I got from Deviant Art hopefully when I master 3D Studio Max I can get the same effect.

    Ouch......

While I still love aim.....and photoshop has been my bitch since I got it early in Janurary.....this past month I've been on xanga more than any other time since I opened my account 3.5 years ago.  (Thank you to Cecile, Lucy, & Henny for getting me to sign up)

After all this time I realized that xanga offers a great deal:
~a glimpse at people's daily lives,
~a place to read people's opinions on life in general.....and my personal favorite,
~a medium where I get to voice my ideas and nurture my creativity.

What do you love about xanga?

The past few years I feel like I haven't been able to let my mind approach it's full capacity.  Many of my friends just see me as someone who just parties, dates, & drinks.

When my sister tells me she thinks I'm a good writer, or a friend tells me that my last entry was funny, or "damn that last photoshop you did was amazing" my soul smiles.  I know it's just stroking my ego but at this point in my life.....I was beginning to feel people didn't see me as having any real thoughts in my head.

I guess what I'm saying is....thank you to everyone who has supported me in this recent endeavor.

P.S.  I actually made three different verisons of the picture above:
    1)  Photoshop Version. Displayed above.  Click here to view.
    2)  Friendster Version.  My old addiction.  Click here to view.
    3)  Myspace Version.  To many addicts to count.  Click here to view.

  • Reason #15 why you shouldn't leave your xanga account signed in:

Naked and loving it! Come here Patrick...

[Edit:]  While I was away from my computer my roomate Patrick posted up the above message with out my knowlodge.  Anyone want to help me get him back?
